I have reached the point in my life where I try not to waste anyone’s time. We all have priorities in our lives—the values we give ourselves to wholeheartedly. In this, I pride myself in being a “straight-shooter.” Based on my experience, I share what I see in any transactional environment and name upfront what is needed to advance a project and complete a deal.
I am often asked, “Who do you represent?”
I consistently respond, “I am an advocate for a deal that can actually get done between two parties. Getting something done requires listening to everyone on both sides of the deal; understanding what is important; and finding terms that bridge any difference.”
Sometimes, it’s impossible, given the stance of people on one or both sides of a deal. In my life, i’ve learned that a “dig your heels in” approach as an “advocate” for one side usually results in no result.
The more all of us benefit, the more any one of us do.
